The Problem started with a complete dead battery a couple of times. Then an intermittent starting issue that would disappear for weeks then reappear. Cranking the engine about 5 times young normally start it. Few weeks ago car broke down while driving. Got it started eventual and drove home but wouldn't start again. Towed to a garage and replaced 4 injectors but still no joy. Replaced ecu and still no joy. Pulled the loom out and found 2 wires melted together. Replaced original ecu and bingo all sorted. Luckily i was able to get a refund on the ecu costs due to it not being needed. Anyway allot of time and work went into sourcing and repairing the issue. Upon reflection I'd say i likly caused the wire melting due to excessive cranking. I likly had 1 bad injector on the way out and it finally failed. I had all 4 injectors tested as bad electronics so that's why all 4 were replaced (unlikly) ecu also tested as bad (we now know this to be false also) so not alot of faith in the testing process...anyway lesson learned here for me is get the car checked if u get a engine fault and don't ignore just because you got the car started. Total cost €1850 +vat mainly due to labour time to find the issue..

Ask for the old injectors back. They’ll fetch €200 on eBay.

What year was it, and was it on the original battery?
