Carpentry Apprenticeships

    Wel lads,doing the leaving next year thinking of doing an apprenticeship after it in carpentry & joinery,just wondering would it be better to go to a local registerd carpenter or larger company,and if i go further down the country and would i need a licence and car if so?any advice greatly appreciated

    I'd say the best way to get some information on this would be to give your local carpenter a ring and ask if you could drop in to get some advice at some point. You could also write to a larger company and ask about their apprenticeships and what they involve.

    If you know anyone through friends or family working as a carpenter you could meet up with him/her for some advice; otherwise maybe go to a jobs fair - they hold them every year for students, and the trades are represented there.

    Your school might also be able to help through their career guidance people.
