Technology suggestions for classrooms

My room projector is about 20 years old and on the blink. It reflects on to a simple pull-down "blind"/screen that comes over the traditional whiteboard. I'm wondering would anybody have suggestions for replacement technology in the classroom? The fact the projector was here 20 years ago makes me wonder would there be anything else to replace it now? I'll still want to show PowerPoints, documentaries and so on so what would be the best type of projector in 2018, or is there something else to replace a projector entirely? Would interactive whiteboards have any merit or are they gone out of fashion now?

I really haven't a clue about what a, for want of a better phrase, technologically 'cutting edge' classroom would have in it in 2018 so any suggestions or reading to follow up on it would be helpful. Also, is there any government organisation, or section of the Department of Education, specialising in giving independent advice to schools about such technical issues? Thanks.
