Partnership between neighbours

    Hi all,

    I've been thinking about a potential partnership with a neighbour where we'd combine the land holdings and share the work.

    It'd be 2020 before it could come into being due to various lease and off-farm constraints. By that stage, neither of us would be a "Young Farmer".

    I've searched on boards.ie here and there's been plenty discussions on partnerships but all seem to be about father/son set-ups.

    Has anyone gone in with a neighbour? Or is there a particular discussion on here that someone could point me towards?

    Thanks.

    Ear To The Ground featured a similar partnership like this a while back. If that's any good to ya. If you could track them down? Maybe talk to their adviser.

    Think they showed the presenter darragh joining up to such a partnership, it showed him and the neighbor joining up to go dairying as far as I can remember.he was taking x amount from milk sold be it good or bad prices darragh got a certain % of the milk check. For lands used.

    Thanks folks.

    I'll look it up on the RTE Player and maybe try contact Darragh thru Twitter.

    It seems a good idea on paper but the downside of it would be as important to consider at this stage.

    Can anyone offer some info on the following scenario?

    * Partnership between 35-year-old farmer and 42-year-old farmer
    * 42-year-old has a green cert but 35-year-old doesn't

    Could such a partnership apply to the National Reserve for entitlements? Or does the whole idea depend on the younger farmer being the qualified/green cert one?
