How do I find out when my new build house is going to get a phone line?

    Hi there,

If you contact our sales team on 1800 503 303 they will assist you further with this.

    Thanks,

    Sarah

I did that, and they sent someone out despite there being no phone line, is this how Eir works?

Seems a bit silly for Eir to sent out an engineer so he can tell Eir that Eir still need to fit the phone line.

Do Sales have access to the schedule of works?

I called the sales team who eventually told me that the work would be done by year end.

The next day an Eir rep knocked on my door and told me I could have Eir in 5 days if I signed up with him, that the lines had just been installed.

Rang Eir to be told this was not true, it is still scheduled to be done by year end.

Can we sign up to mobile broadband for the interim with the condition that when we sign up to Eir Broadband and TV once the phone line is in the mobile contract is terminated early without penalty?

Signing up and getting charged is much easier than fighting with them later on over who promised what. I am sceptical if door to door sales man says you can get it, while customer care says you can't. They could actually use this against you later saying that you were informed service is not available yet.

I probably wouldn't sign up yet if I were you until I get clear consistent answer that yes you can get it, and what speed will you be getting.

    Cheers Robbie

TBF to the sales team on the phone they’ve been fairly consistent in their message, nothing is available until year end and only then will we know what is actually available, speeds etc.

We’re not being charged either, so again no issues with the billing.

It’s mostly the overall poor service, sending someone out to check if Eir themselves had installed a phone line, door to door salesman blatantly lying to my face about what was on offer, not to mention taking up to 50 minutes to get through to anyone on the phone.

I doubt sales man is intentionally lying. He probably has inaccurate tool or tablet at his disposal provided by eir which tells him that your address is eligible. I've seen this happening on this forum in other threads where sales guy came in to people, said they can get FTTH. They signed up. Later engineer came in, saying you can't get it.

He said he’d been speaking to the guy who installed the line. I queried this a few times with him but he was adamant that the lines had just been done.

I even pointed to the box that KN Networks had told me was due to be connected to my house and asked if he was sure it was that one. He said it was.

I’m not usually one for calling an employee a liar, I worked in Customer Service and as a CS Manager for years so know that words can be misconstrued or misunderstood so I’m very careful to make sure I fully understand what is being said.
