I just want to see where I stand. I work for Tesco as a security guard a rso for a long time. Tesco have now taken on a company called ocs security bringing in outside security into the company. Basicly if I left I would be replaced by a ocs guard.Ocs are doing audits in shops now and expect retail security officers rso to comply with them. My contract says I am a rso employed by Tesco so should I comply when ocs security are telling me what to do when I am not employed by ocs. I would like to see what people's opinions are thanks in advance

Has your manager not told you what to do?

Simplest bit of advice would be to ask your manager.

Another view of this might be that your employer has brought in a consultant (OCS) and that they are performing duties at Tesco's request. You, as a Tesco employee, are also performing duties at your employers request.
Does it really matter if the person making the request is under one contract or another?
I'm curious to know why you think that you should not comply? [ Are their requests in some way wrong? ]

Ultimately the request to get the work done is being made by someone up the management hierarchy.
Think of it from their perspective: they've brought in a company to get a job done, so I'd be assuming that they have communicated to everyone what the situation is. Seek clarification if you've not got it already.

When you say when ocs security are telling me what to do you need to elaborate on this. If those employees (ocs) are asking/telling you to do things outside of your competency or normal work practices, you should seek clarification from your manager/employer.

I'm sure that given you are employed in this capacity for some time, you don't need a manager or other senior person telling you what to do in most situations. However, it does seem (based on your OP) that Tesco have decided to bring in external consultants, and are instigating some changes. These changes should be made in consultation with existing employees (should they constitute a material change of contract/employment terms) and should also be communicated clearly to each employee.

In fairness, your OP is a little too vague to determine what you should do in this case.

Can I assume that you are a full-time Tesco employee? Definitely not an RSO from another security company?

If that is the case, you are 'the client' and only report to Tesco management, not OCS, unless otherwise advised by Tesco management, which I gather, is not what has happened.

OCS are a vendor supplier of security services and report to the client, Tesco, so therefore cannot ask you to do anything unless Tesco permit it and that it is within the terms of your contract with Tesco.

Your next course of action should be to talk with your line manager at Tesco to formalise your position and duties hereafter.

Failing that, arbitration through the union (if you are a member).

If that does not work or suit, you may need to go the legal route and therefore will best speak to a solicitor for that.
