I am planning to enter into a new Vodafone contract soon, but plan to sell the phone I get with the package as I want to get a phone they don't have and use their phone to subsidise same.

What would be best to get so as to resell after I've got unlock code from them? S9 at 99 on Red Connect?

(have a discounted package so not going sim free etc)
    Thanks

What is the package just out of interest?

Employer contract with Vodafone gives staff "Vodafone Advantage" ( 10 per month off Red Connect). I know I could go PAYG etc but with 100 mins international calls, Spotify premium and 10 off I'm happy to stay and flog phone.

Now... If anyone has any advice as to my question :)

Would an iPhone not have the best resale value?

Would the phone not be network locked?

And won't you be paying for that phone anyway through the monthly contract payments?

Doesn't seem to be most cost effective thing to be doing really

    Wouldn't be worth the bother

You'd be watching it the whole time too in case of charges

I think you misunderstand what he's planning.

You only get the unlock code at the end of the contract no? If not iPhone or S9 will be easiest, iPhone for sure will sell quicker IMO even though I'm an android person

You can unlock your phone with Vodafone when on a plan

iPhone Xs will sell no bother coming close to Christmas, leave it in the box and take the IMEI number off it to get it unlocked by the network.

Surely you have to get to the end of the original contract first?

There are websites and shops that can unlock a phone from a network in hours.

Might void any warranty but if the plan is to sell it on a warranty won't matter too much.

Though I'd imagine it would be a fairly saucy plan to get an S9 for 99 quid.

    Nope.

With any business plans (he's a corp customer) you can request it month 1. They'll look, see credit risk zero, and give the code.

Parents gifting phones to their kids (on cheaper networks) has been a thing for yonks.
