Cost for carpet

Got a quote for carpets for 2 (small) double bedrooms and box room, plus landing. Price includes underlay, fitting, and removal of old carpet. Total quoted was €2700. Seems very expensive to me?
Any idea of roughly what cost the fitting of new carpet and removal of what's there already should be? I don't mind paying for the carpet and underlay I want but don't want to be ripped off on the labour costs. Thanks

We paid a bit more for three bedrooms, hall and study with no removal of old carpet about 75 sq metres. . The carpet selected had a huge bearing on price. First one we picked was twice that. We got a 100% wool looped carpet. From Treacys in bennettsbridge.

Post the actual room sizes and I can have a look. Buying carpet is like buying a car, you can usually go as cheap or as expensive as you like.

This quote was for 50 square metres. Have measured up properly since quote and will only need roughly 30 sq metres so cost of carpet will obviously be slightly less. (Room 1 = 11m2; room 2 = 8.5m2; room 3 = 5.5m2; landing = 2.7m2)
Like I say I don't mind paying the carpet costs as that is totally dependent on what I pick. When I get quoted it's for everything included rather than a break down of the costs so it would be helpful to know roughly what the labour costs should be so I can work out the figures for myself.

Labour costs around (west) here would be beween €5-€7m2 depending on the fitter. You will definitely also need more than 30m2, as carpet rolls usually come in a 4M roll width. Prices would be higher in Dublin.

    Shop around.
The prices of (the same) carpet can vary dramatically between shops.
Then there's so much to pick from.
Do you know how long you intend it to last? Is it for a master or guest room?
Quality can vary based on expected wear and tear.

Thanks for replies. Went to another branch of the same shop and was quoted €1600 for the same carpet. Have decided to go elsewhere anyway, as found a carpet I like and cost of it, good underlay, and fitting is €1000. They had the same carpet as first shop as well which was working out around the €1000 mark too.
