Hi I'm in the market for a car and really like the CLS 350 Mercedes.

Does anyone know the difference between blue efficiency and amg line? Surely it's more than a grill and wheels.

Also in the middle of the back seats, is that storage?

Cars in question are 2014 amg 65000 miles or 2015 blue efficiency 83000km, 2015 is only about €1600 dearer

Overall if anyone here has owned then, how good is reliability?
Currently have a f10 which has started to get expensive to maintain since around 270000km.

The Amg line is equivalent to m sport in bm I assume. If the motor tax is the same on them , who cares about this emissions nonsense ...do you have links to the cars ?

Blue Efficiency is the technology that Mercedes use for improved fuel efficiency, I think they sold it specifically as a trim level in the UK so it's most likely a UK import.

AMG Line is a sporty trim level. It consists of sportier exterior body bits, larger alloy wheels, stiffer sports suspension and sportier interior trim. It's similar to BMW's M Sport or Audi's S Line trim levels.

Blue Efficiency is absolutely not a trim level, it’s purely efficiency tech including ECO stop/start along with fuel efficiency enhancing radiator shutters (model dependent), various diffusers/aerodynamics bits and pieces (not styling parts), adaptive performance tuning of various ECU/TCU modules etc. It’s all about efficient fuel usage and reduced emmisions. For the most part, ignore it.

The AMG part in this case includes exterior styling, with or without internal controls (steering wheel, pedals) and seating upgrades, sports suspension and dynamic handling package (model dependent). As Bazz says, like M Sport or S Line. It’s known as AMG Optik on the continent and on some models as ‘AMG Sport’ in the UK if I’m not mistaken.

To confuse things a bit, you also pick the trim spec in some models, along with the AMG Optik upgrade packs. Typically that will be Avantgarde in combination, but it could be one of the other specs too, depending on the specific car as ordered. That could be Elegance/Classic or Sport and a car with an AMG exterior styling pack can have a standard spec interior, so you need to check what it was built with. It’s easy to find that with the VIN.

That all assumes it’s not an actual AMG CLS. That’s another animal entirely.

Thanks guys, I have test drove the AMG cls350 and absolutely loved it. A nice upgrade on the 520 especially the extra power and gadgets.

I'm planning on putting a deposit on Saturday, is there any major reliability issues that anyone is aware of?
Most UK owners seem happy overall.
