How about a 'get your lights fixed day'??
Faulty lights just goes ignored...yet do 10k over a speed limit & you get a fine & points.

Huge amount of drivers with one dipped headlight, 1 tail light or no brake lights working is crazy....It's a road safety issue but completely ignored by both drivers & RSA.

Along with the overtaking lane hoggers, red light breakers, phone users, bald tyres etc. Only 2 of our laws are regularly enforced, DUI and exceeding the posted speed limit, for any other offence you have to seriously annoy the Garda for them to do you.

I'd like to see a 'phone user' day. Revenue gathered country-wide should pay for several new Garda vehicles or a few new recruits etc.

More than a dozen motorists have been issued with fines after they were caught holding a mobile phone while driving in a bus lane in Limerick City.

The detections were made by members of the Roads Policing Unit during an operation in the Castletroy area of the city earlier this week.

According to a post on social media, of the 19 motorists who were stopped, 15 were holding or using their mobile phones.

Fixed Charged Penalty Notices were issued in each case and court proceedings will be initiated of the fines are not paid.

While driving in a bus lane is not penalty points offence, driver caught holding a mobile phone will receive three penalty points on their licence.
