I had an interview with a local authority recently and I got questioned on the new planning process. I had no idea what he was referring to and he said the old way of submitting drawings with the site highlight etc. had all come to an end. He hinted it had all gone digital.

Anyone know or can explain what changed? I've an interview with the same person next week.

    Thanks

    News to me.
Some council staff are looking for electronic copy of site layout outline referenced to grid system to allow them to automatically position site on their systems. Not a bad idea however it is not a requirement at all.

There are no new Regulations that I know of.
The only thing I can think of is that he was talking about the roll out of ePlanning and lodging certain planning applications online which you can do already with Dublin City Council.

Currently, nothing new has changed in Dublin City.

Possibly related, but in DCC, you had to have the Map Ref number that would appear from OSi data. Most councils use Microstation as their GIS tool, and they manually map the sites in house.

Irish Water applications now require online submission of maps etc.

Or that's what I remember when I submitted an application a few months ago.
