Hi folks, I recently got this fridge freezer second hand from a family member.

It was defrosted and left standing for a week before being transported (upright) to my house. It was left here for 2 weeks before I tried turning it on. After turning on, it won't freeze anymore.

It clicks once, the compressor turns on, hums away, starts to make the freezer compartment cold, all seems fine. Then about 10-15 mins later, the compressor stops. It then starts to click and try start itself over and over again, but with no luck. I can make this cycle repeat itself by unplugging the fridge for a while ie. Compressor will turn on for 10-15mins and start to get a bit cold but then stop and click click click.

I'm finding it difficult to diagnose as everything seems to work ok for a while. The starter works fine to start it up first time. The compressor does work but then stops. What could be the issue here?

it has all the symptoms of a faulty compressor, cutting out on the thermal overload because of a high amperage draw by the compressor, would need to be checked with an amp meter to be sure

Was afraid that might be the case. Was working perfectly fine for the past decade until packed up and moved. Damaged in transit or what could it be? It was transported upright and strapped tightly to the wall of the truck. Should probably have asked to pad the compressor too..
