Might be in the realm of tin foil lined hat, but could they be active on boards or other Irish media sites.

    No they've officially been decommissioned.

On balance I would say they were or are all over parts of boards and social media in Ireland.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn of any shady organisation monitoring the Internet. In fact I just assume that every single search or every single word I type is monitored somewhere, by someone.

And I don't care. There's nothing I could do to prevent it and nothing remotely interesting in my search history. So F*** You, spies! :D

They're active on twitter promoting Irexit but only the usual loons are biting. They're profiles are similar the US ones but with an Irish twist. They're often female, have Irish flags and celtic symbols on their backgrounds.

Demfad provided this example a while back:

While it's not confirmed as being from the Internet Research Agancy, the behaviour and look is pretty much the same.

The Russians have a long history of trying to influence discourse in other countries. They provided money to the Workers Party, Socialist Party, Irish Council for Civil Liberties etc during the 70’s and 80’s.

They were deeply suspicious of SF/PIRA initially at least, but that may have changed when they realised the OIRA/Workers Party were little more than a talking shop.

Probably active on journal.ie, one persistent sock puppet with redundant facebook link getting a hundred likes in matter of minutes. Rinse and repeat ad nauseam.

Your evidence for that is very well documented.

They absolutely have a presence and monitor things in Ireland, whether its active or not is another question.

One of Russia's key goals is to weaken the EU, Brexit was absolutely influenced by them to some extent and due to it having the largest effect on us no matter the form it takes they will definitely be looking at us as one of the next weak links in the EU. However whether they consider us ripe as a target is another question as our euro skepticism is one of the lowest in the union so far harder to prey on than the likes of the UK.

People only started blaming Russia for Brexit years later.

Uses a profile picture with a watermark...how lazy can you get?

    The bio is.... something..

Exposing genocidal anti-nation globalists who along with their crooked Irish quislings have subverted democracy & are busily destroying Ireland's native people

People were theorising Russian involvement as early as 2016

    https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/russian-interference-brexit-highly-probable-referendum-hacking-putin-a7472706.html

Also the investigations revealing such involvement only started producing information suggesting involvement midway through 2017 so im not sure what point you are trying to make?

That was late 2016, after the hysteria of the US election. I mean he’s blaming Russia for the migrants into the EU.

Russia is a convenient scapegoat for elites who are fairly shell shocked at the moment.

    Interesting article here :

    https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-45894486
More than 10 million tweets posted by suspected state-backed Russian and Iranian "troll farms" have been shared online by Twitter.

It has published more than 360GB of material to aid studies into how its platform has been used to try to influence the public.

The messages were posted from 2013 to 2018 and include references to the US presidential election and the UK's EU referendum.

In total, 4,570 accounts were involved.

Early analysis by the BBC's data journalism team indicates the word "Brexit" was mentioned in 3,789 tweets linked the Russian Internet Research Agency (IRA), nearly all of which were published on the day of the vote or afterwards
    .
