I was quoted 450 eu for fibre optic installation (100 eu while they were "in the area" )
Is that the normal price.? It is not what I have seen that online.

Maybe I haven't looked close enough?

Is 35 eu a month available all over as I was only offered a 45 eu package?

edit :it was 150 megs they were offering

You are mixing and matching pricing and products there. That won't work.

150 Mbit/s means FTTH. So with Eir that would only be the Fibre Extreme products.

The 35 EUR package is their falsely as fibre advertised "eFibre" product, which is VDSL/FTTC. It's copper to your home up to 100 Mbit/s.

If you are FTTH enabled, then you can order from any of the providers on this list that have the little house logo: https://fibrerollout.ie/rollout-map/where-to-buy/

    Best to compare prices.

    Who quoted you?

Two guys showed up in a flashy car with an Eir logo.

I was suspicious and contacted the website (my number said no broadband) but they said yes I could get and to get back once I was connected..

Right so as Marlow said above you can order from any of the ISPs listed on the link he posted with a green home icon. It is up to yourself to work out which company will give you the best value.

I would also say that what the eir reps said to you seems like a form of pressure selling and should not happen.

    Me again:)

It seems I have to go through Eir after all....

At least that is what Vodafone said when I just rang them.

I can switch later it seems but will have to wait until after Eir have done the installation...

Well, if you look at that list again: Vodafone does NOT have the house logo in that list. ( https://fibrerollout.ie/rollout-map/where-to-buy/ )

    That's why.

As I stated: only the ones with the house logo can supply you with FTTH. There is only 8 of the ones on that list, that have the house logo.

You're forgetting the activation fee in that calculation, which comes on top of the installation. And that pricing only applies, if you're not an Eir customer and haven't been so for quite a while. Otherwise it's higher.

Lots of better deals out there than that.

I contacted my existing provider and they are going to install it for me (about 260 I think)

They weren't listed as one of the 8 providers with the green house logo but they got back and said they would do it.

I haven't got round to ordering but will do so soon.

The list is not complete. Quite a few providers either mislabeled or missing entirely.
