What are the best driving jobs for pay/conditions?

I was just thinking this earlier.
I'm in a nice public service driving job at the moment. My hours can be long and we do a lot of mileage but it sounds like a doddle compared to the horror stories of what working in haulage industry is like.
I'm just thinking ahead if I ever want to change job. From what I hear, arctic/rigid driving, courier jobs, things like cash vans, and bus driving is pretty dire for the hours/pay you get.
What about the likes of An Post? Or doing work with fuel/chemical tankers? I'm guessing there's huge competition for those jobs too.
Maybe I'd be mad to change.

What kind of driving do you do if you don't mind me asking.
Haz drivers don't get much more then the lad on a tipper of fridge work. One of the best paying would be the likes of Musgrave's around €17 an hour but hard to get into.
Conditions vary. Some company's pay well with shocking conditions and crapy gear. Others would do what they can to give you the best gear and make the job less stressful buy the pay could be poor.

Private coach drivers seem to do ok especially around tourist session.
Courier van drivers I feel sorry for sometimes. Upwards in 60 calls a day rushing and racing.

I love my job tho one of the lucky ones good wage and great conditions but if you've a cushy number and the pays not bad stay put.

I'll make it short and sweet, stay where you are if it's the public sector, that is a safety net you will ever get in the private sector.

I do intermediate care work for the ambulance service. Not the largest vehicles, but slightly larger than the standard ambulances and we have other larger C vehicles in the service. I know the type of work is different, but the driving aspect is half of it, and we'd be all over the country on a shift. I love the driving driving challenge, so thinking about my future career options if i ever want out.

    Sounds like an interesting job.
I'm assuming the larger 3.5t+ are taco exempt.
If you did decide to leave it for a private sector job you'd find a massive change. Drivers are treated for the most part like crap... I'd stay put.
