    Hi.
As the title suggests - would anybody be able to offer opinions on the above model?
I have seen one with 100k miles on it in the Uk that would be approx €11k cleared.
How is the diesel model from 2013?

Thanks a million for any advice/help.
It’s for the wife as she needs an upgrade.
Was looking to limit to €10k but could stretch to a little more if neeeds be.

    Run.

    Run away.

Run like the wind, and don't stop running until you buy something that is reliable and won't give you a world of heartbreak.

Is this engine really as bad as all that? And if it was would it not be bigger news?

In my experience of dealing with them, yes.

There are some people who haven't had issues - the lucky few we call them.

Not sure why there isn't more info around on these. Well known on the previous 2.2d and the 2.0d before that, but not as much on the Skyactive 2.2d, and that's by far the worst offender.

Thanks for the reply. Is the petrol variant reliable?

I've no direct experience with the petrol model - probably 2008 the last Petrol Mazda I supplied.

2 in the family and neither have been much fuss. I never gear much about them elsewhere either.

From personal experience point of view I would stay away from any Skyactive engine in the Mazda CX-5, Mazda 6 or Mazda 3. My engine block cracked after only 72,000km’s! with No overheating alarm. Note the Mazda doesn’t have a gauge but just a warning light that’s goes through a sequence of flashes if there is a problem but by the time that happens you’re already too late.
The cost of repair was over 6,500EUR and not long out of warrantee I reached out to Mazda Ireland and Mazda UK and they refused to engage in any helpful discussions as to what could have been the root cause or any compensation. I’ve since learnt from getting the engine fixed it’s a common problem with the Skyactive engine that Mazda is just ignoring.
I’ll be going for a car maker with longer warrantee next time. i.e. Not Mazda

I've had a 151 Mazda 6 Skyactive 2.2 Diesel that I put over 150K Km in a little over two years. That car never missed a beat. It's was a pleasure to drive and I hated selling.

I now have a 181 CX-5. It also has the same Skyactive 2.2 Diesel engine. I've covered about 45K Km in it, while I didn't take to it as much as I did the Mazda 6, it's still a pleasure to drive. It's also very child friendly...

So far i'm at 200K Km and not as much as a single problem

On Thursday (10th) I hope to pick up... My third diesel Mazda... It's another Cx-5 with the Skyactive 2.2 Diesel engine...

I came across from the world of driving Skoda's and haven't look back...

I have a 171 Mazda CX5 Skyactive 2.2 Diesel. All fine until the other day with dreaded engine warning light and driving in limp mode so these cars can give trouble at low Mileage. Very slow to get diagnosis from Mazda about issue with the car and being told I have to hire a car. Noteably, it's the first issue I've had with the car but dealing with Mazda warranty processes has not been smooth and If it's like this under warranty, I fear what it will be like outside of warranty period.
