hi just enquiring if you are involved with PCP that was set up by a dealer garage do you have to get the car serviced by that garage or can you get things done by independent mechanic with receipts?

    Thanks

You need to read the specific terms and conditions of your PCP contract. Some have it their terms that the car needs to be serviced by the main dealer for the duration of the PCP agreement, the same way some PCP dealer require any accident/crash repairs are carried out by a main dealer. Remember that you don't actually own the car during the PCP term.

The official terms and conditions will undoubtedly say you must have the car serviced with the main dealer. Many PCP'd cars are on service plans too so it obviously makes sense in that case. Also if you had any warranty issues its probably better / less grief all round if you've had the car into them for servicing / they are known to you.

If it's a new-ish car it won't need much anything beyond basic routine annual servicing anyway, so the savings you make bringing it someplace else aren't going to be much.

Check the cost of the service plan compared to just buying a service from them.

Sometimes they count the first oil change as a complete service even though they don't do anything else.

Also some dealers do a get 4th service free deal. For me this would of been cheaper than the service plan.
