Hi, im new to this, just looking for some advise. I work nights in a factory, I work 3 nights a week, 12 hour shifts, I work 36 hours a week bit get paid for 37.5 hours. We get 2 10 minute breaks plus a 25 minute break(45mins) per shift, and when I started the job I was told this is why I get paid an extra 1.5 hours per week. Ive been on nights for 2 years now and when I take holidays I get paid flat rate and not my night rate whi k is wrong as far as I know, when I questioned this I was told that the 1.5 hours extra per week is to cover discrepancies like holiday pay. The day shift also get the extra 1.5 hours per week. Plaese any advise would be very much appreciated

Are you unionised? Speak to a union rep about this if so and approach HR. Check your contract and speak to them about the hours you do and therefore holiday pay has to match up to this. That’s not right

Not unionised and I was only issued vwith a contract last year despite working here nearly 7 years, did not sign it as I had some issues with it, brought these issues to them and ive not heard anything more about the contract

Thanks, I brought this information to them and they fobbed me off with saying we get paid 37.5 hours when we only work 36hours per week, and this 1.5 hours is to cover discrepancies like holiday pay, but the day shift also receive the extra 1.5 hours pay aswell despite not loosing out on money for taking their holidays. I need to find the reason they pay us the extra 1.5 hours which I think is because we only receive a total of 45mins breaks in a 12 hour shift??
