Issues after BMW recall work for B+ Battery Connector Recall

Is anyone experiencing problems with their 3 series BMW after having recall work done for the Blower Regulator Connection and B+ Battery Cable Connector? Specifically battery drain problems.

Recently had a 320d in with BMW to perform the recall work. The day after the car was returned, the battery was flat. Just presumed something was left on and jumped started the car, which started and ran fine. However, the next morning the battery was flat again. After jump starting the car again, we noted that, after the ignition was turned off & the car locked, some systems were still active and the car was fully going to "sleep". Gear position LED on, Start/Stop button backlight on etc.

The car was brought back to BMW who investigated the issue and said it was the Parrot phone kit causing the drain. The phone kit has been in the car since new & never gave any problems. In fact, the car never had any sort of battery drain problems. After getting the car back with the phone kit disconnected, the battery was flat again the next morning.

When BMW were contacted again, we were told that they had checked all their recall work was done correctly and would gladly investigate the issue.... for €195/hr :eek:

If this were any other situation it would sound like a scam: Car owner asked to submit their working vehicle in for recall work. Work gets done. Car returned in a non-working condition. Owner advised fault can be investigated for an obscene hourly rate.

BMW Customer Service were contacted to make a complaint and to escalate the issue but it was a pointless endeavour. We were told the exact same response as the dealer advised us; Their work was checked and it had nothing to do with them. An amazing coincidence it would seem.

Mods, can you please sticky this thread? If there are more owners out there with the same issue, it may be wise to come together as a group and approach BMW regarding this matter. Thanks.

    Frank Keane.

Couple of mechanics I visited said they had been contacted by 3 series owners who were experiencing problems post recall work.

Got the recall notices months ago but nothing since.

I can't genuinely think of anything they could have done to cause drain. All the recall is is a simple battery connector replacement

Why does it take 2 hours ?

How long will the repair take?

We estimate that the repair will take approximately 2 hours, but this may vary for each specific vehicle. Your BMW Centre will let you know how long they will need your vehicle in the workshop.

    It's in an awkward spot

    They might use :

    611 293 12 133 or similar

They should have used a better connector the first time

If that one is loose/pitted, there are probably a few more connectors in ribbons too
