Replacing glass on a Stanley stove (screws won't open)

The glass is cracked on my Stanley stove and the screws are wedged shut. I've been putting wd-40 on them but it doesn't seem to be doing much.

    Has this happened anyone before?

Is there someone that I can get to come out and replace the glass?

    Thanks for your help

Stanley have their own repair people if that helps.

I had an issue with mine and as it was under warranty, the work was completed free of charge.

I went back to where it was purchased and they organised it for me.

Whereabouts are you? I brought our stove door to a glass specialist in Celbridge recently, and they removed and replaced the door glass for €100

I can't get anyone of the screws to open so I can't take the door off either.

I'm unsure if I understand what you mean.
Have you tried to lift the door off it's hinges at the side? This should be completely independent of any screws holding the glass to the front panel of the door. You can literally lift the door up and off. It may be heavy though so you could need help.
But maybe it's different for these Stanley doors? I was able to lift off the door and bring it to the shop though. Very handy.

I think the Stanley must be different to yours. The door is also screwed on

you may have to scrap the whole thing and buy a new one!

What exact model of stove is it?

It's a Stanley Oisin solid fuel stove

I had this problem with a very old Stanley stove, the screws were more or less gone due to sitting in front of flames for years.

I had to get them drilled out and replaced....I think it needed some rethreading too.

There are 2 hinges on door connecting it to the main body. Will those screws turn? If so, you could take off the door..

Thanks for your help lads but I could only get one screw off on the hinges for the door

had the same problem last year and couldn't turn the screws holding in the glass. I contacted the chap who put in the stove and he broke the rest of the glass out of the door. when the glass was removed from around the four screws holding the glass to the door he turned the screws very easily and then put in the new glass.

Excellent idea.... Nothing to lose by trying this... (except the cracked glass... :D)
