how many wears before you wash your clothes

Following on from the 'how often do you shower' id be interested to hear peoples view on how many wears (day) before you wash your clothes

And i dont mean gym gear that needs to be washed after its drenched in sweat after the one session

I mean your day-to-day clothes in office or other.

I generally get two wears out of clothes. Socks and underwear changed every day. t-shirts maybe after one day if its been warm, esp in summer. I wonder if im being smelly in not changing clothes every day.

When i did wear office suits (male) im embarrased to say id go two weeks without going to dry cleaners. But i took them off as soon as i got home.

    Tks

I misread the thread title as how many YEARS before you wash your clothes ...

Underwear changed daily. No exception to this rule. Outer garments - well, it depends. If you rotate your trousers and shirts and jumpers you can get away with several wears, unless they are stained or soiled.

After Hours may not have been meant as a forum for people to celebrate their personal hygiene.

Seems to happen a lot, though: "Hey, I'm squeaky clean: what are you?"

And clothes washing uses up a LOT of water, heat, and polluting detergents. Not to mention machinery.

Underwear needs to be washed frequently because it absorbs sweat and skin grime: but outerwear should stay clean much longer, if looked after, hung up and aired. Unless you slop a lot of food on yourself while eating, or wade through mud.

I launder the outer clothing much less frequently than you, OP, but I'm still nice to be near :)

Socks, underwear and teeshirts change and put in wash every day. Jumpers every day but zip hoodies probably a good few days as i tend to take them off.

Jeans, Probably wear same pair all week if they don't get anything spilt on them. If I had more jeans I would change them more often but Im poor and only have 2 good pairs.

    Change my clothes everyday.

Sometimes twice a day depending on gym .

If I wear a pair of jeans just for a few hours I’ll take them off and give them a little spray and leave them air and wear them a few days later before washing .

Wash clothes? I just throw them away after one use and buy new ones. Plebs.

Anyone else have separate work and home clothes? I don't mean folks in suits, just casual work clothes.

I change as soon as I get in because dog hair gets on everything.

I usually get 4 wears out of a pair of jocks.

    Worn normally
    Worn inside out
    Worn back to front
Worn Inside out and back to front.

After that, I find that they can usually stand by themselves.

Why is it ok to wear jeans for a few dats but not t-shirt? All touching the same skin.

A jumper can be worn more than once too.

Jaysus, years ago people wore the same clothes all week with no issue.

Denim in general doesn't need to be washed as frequently .

work gear (Shirt and slacks) 1 wear

Leasure gear depends, if its a hoody or polo /jumper usually 2 maybe 3 wears depending on the activity

    T-shirts = 1 wear

socks and jocks an obvious 1 wear.

Jeans I would wear different pairs for days without throwing in the wash

am I a scruff??? the missus seems to think it sometimes ha

If it's work wear then every day change socks, knickers, t-shirt with weekly wash of work trousers/shirt, no point in more often given my job is outdoors and a bit dusty but will change both if they get muddy/wet which they will as winter closes in.

Home clothes less often but still in less than a week! :D

Yes! I have a completely separate set of clothes that I never wear outside the house, mainly old clothes that I can't wear in my normal rotation of boring outfits anymore due to staining and age.

My work/university/going outside clothes are almost the same all the time, two identical grey hoodies, two identical blue hoodies, and a load of half decent tops to go under a big black coat. And five or six identical pairs of black jeans. Nobody can ever tell how long I've been wearing anything, so I just make sure I don't stink anyway.

One wear for anything that touches my skin. It’s not that big a deal to clean the clothes.

Most people on boards have hygiene problems. Don’t make a big deal about washing ur clothes or your body, are they trying to save water or something?

    Go and wash yourselfs

The doc was looking for a urine sample, a stool sample and a semen sample - so I handed over my jocks.

I spare myself the hassle of laundry by throwing my cloths away everyday and cracking open a fresh pack.

Underwear and tops are changed everyday

Trousers are pretty much only washed when they are dirty.

I usually wear outer clothes for two days in a row. Put them aside for a few days then wear again for two days. Four days use in total. Or more.

Outer clothes do not need to be washed so often. Unnecessary washing is bad for the environment, your clothes and your bank balance.

unless I have an unexpected sleepover, I wouldn't go two days wearing same clothes, and once worn, it goes to the wash (exception: coats/jackets/jeans).

before another thread starts - I also alternate my shoes.
    - actually I keep in my cabinet in work few pairs of shoes so that I can change them, depending on mood/what meeting I go to :)

Jeans get a few days but everything else is washed after being worn once. I live in a hot country so there's no option.

In the house, I've some shorts and t-shirts that last a lot longer.
