Refurbished Laptops

Anyone here have any experience of refurbished laptops?

Newbie2ette jnr (9) wants a laptop. She has €200 from her birthday so was looking at some of the budget laptops bashing about, Such as the HP stream. From the poor reviews etc, I could easily see myself speeding far too much time sorting it out than she would have enjoying it.

Another option is a refurbished one. Are they any good or should I avoid?



I also think she would benefit from detachable touch screen also.

Any ideas?

i don't mind putting a few bob towards it if needed. (Not a huge amount though)

In a way, they pack a punch, but you can never know for sure how good or how long a refurbished laptop will last. At least from my experience, they aren't worth buying.  

So, If I were  you, I would probably buy her a new Chromebook for the price.

can be ok but you need to do some research on the model.

if you get a modern refurbished laptop that's ok.

if you're buying a laptop from 5 years ago marked as refurbished not so good as for 1 the screen will be terrible.

laptopsdirect seems to be selling a lot of ancient stuff.

dell do some very good deals or refurbished stuff.

but you'd be hard-pressed to get anything decent for 200 euro.

if something light with a nice screen is needed for basic stuff this would be ok

not the best cpu at all but for web browsing and office software tasks would be ok

Look on eBay for ex business Lenovo refurbished laptops they are generally Herat value for money and very sturdy machines
If the budget can be upped a bit

not a bad option there on that carbon alright as at least it's not an old brick as it's relatively light. only worry would be the state of the battery. you'd be looking at 100 euro+ for a new one.
