Employer won't release P45

So a buddy left his job back in march. They are still waiting on their P45, former employer keeps fobbing them off.

Buddy went into revenue, and was told it's nothing to do with them.

So what options are available to my buddy?

Go back to revenue. He just got a lazy employee. Revenue can ring the company and ask what's going on.

Juat ask revenue what your tax credits are and give them to the new employer,, thats all they need. No need for the P45 if you are starting a new job

There are other reasons to have a P45, e.g. an income tax rebate or claiming benefits.

Call the Revenue helpline and ask them to issue a P43 to the ex employer.

What does he need it for.
It’s something that you can usually manage without. If it’s to get tax sorted in a new job you definitely don’t need it.

Get revenue to put pressure on employer, employer will fold
