That's on odd first post in this forum for someone who's been on boards since 2009.

I miss Sarky's posts, they were great.

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.

And I was a thorn in his side, I don't debate this ****e anymore.
I went from being woo to waking up.

Took a while alright, I'm agnostic myself now.

Unfortunately I fell into all the new age boloxology from maybe 2004 until 2014...it waned then around two years ago one day in work a lady who I thought was all woo told me she didn't believe in anything other than getting on with it...

It was like an enlightening moment, I said to myself what the **** was I doing believing in all the woo....

It's great to wake up from it all, I suppose been there and done that.

I can see how newage spiritual groups can be a breeding ground for narcissism and control..

    It's great to be free...

Happy for You, can be difficult telling the woo from the trees by times.

    Its a bit disappointing though.

I feel the same about it as I do about Fianna Fail. They were bankrupting the country and ruining the future, but boy those give away budgets and easy credit days were fun!

The woo is the same, theres far less excitement in being awake, even though its a better way to be.

I miss woo. And Bertie, the loveable old rogue, I miss him too.

"Excitement" would be the last word I'd use to describe Irish catholicism...

It's handy at funerals to be fair. At least everyone knows the formula. Last few funerals I've been to have been secular and everyone ends up milling around with no notion of what to do, where to go, when it's starting, if there's going to be soup and sammiches.

The fact that Irish Catholics are better at funerals than weddings pretty much sums up the RCC church for me, or as the quote from Dogma puts it "You people don't celebrate your faith, you mourn it."

You can only open so many threads on whether a god exists or not. After a time it plays like a record in a groove, as repetitive as the rosary. The same old jibes most of the time.

Amen. If anyone knows one poster who has been converted to one side or the other let me know.
