    Hi all,

Long story short, I registered as Self Employed Sole Trader in August 2016. I completed Form 11 for 2016 and 2017.

I commenced full time employment (PAYE) in July 2017. When I am completing a tax return next year for 2018 can I fill out the Form 12 instead of Form 11 if my net profit is under 5k?

Not unless you cease your income tax registration. If the income tax registration is still live the system will look for a form 11.

You can only go back to submitting a Form 12 if the non-PAYE income ceased entirely.

If you still have some non-PAYE income, even if it is under the €5000 threshold, you will still need to complete a Form 11, as you will not be able to cease your registration for income tax until that source of income has finished completely.

If your income is solely PAYE in 2018, then you can deregister and submit a Form 12.
