Secret Santa 2018 - A&PI needs you!

Hi folks,

It's getting close to Halloween and time for us to start thinking about the secret santa. Unfortunately Silly mango who has done a brilliant job this past number of years is unable to organise the Secret Santa this year.

If the worst comes to the worst, I will take back the reigns and organise it myself but it might be quite nice for a forum regular to take on the position as has been tradition. It does take up a fair bit of time and effort and can be quite stressful so please bare that in mind.

So if anyone would like to volunteer or ask questions about what would be involved, please post here to express your interest.

I know it's still early but thought it best to leave a bit of time to get this sorted out.

Would honestly love to help out but have 2 very unwell parents & issues with my daughter so can't commit to it for this year. Hopefully next year I will be in a better position to help. Sorry.

ETA- my understanding would be gathering names, details of pets and then doing a draw, informing everyone involved of who they got and their details and keeping track of presents sent and received?

Hi jellybear,

You'd basicly be organising the whole thing however you best saw fit and treating everyone's information with confidence and inline with data protection legislation.

Basically you'd start a thread outlining the rules and inviting people to participate. They send you their details. You then do a draw to determine who gets who and send the details on to the people of who they are buying presents for and the address to send it to. You'd keep track of when presents are posted and when they arrive. A lot of pms will pass back and forward through your inbox. You will have support from me and from Sillymango should you need it but it is a mammoth task.

It's maybe a good idea to look at past SS threads to see how the public facing aspects of it go. You can sort of work out the behind the scenes work that goes on from that as well.

"Mammoth task" both terrifies and intrigues me!!:D Well, if no one else or no one more suitable is interested I'd be happy to do it as I've loved taking part in it the last few years!

Organising it involved a big spread sheet on excel with everyone details, sending a lot of PMs, following up on presents that weren’t sent, and a hell of a lot of wine 😂 I’ll be more than happy to help anyone who decides to take it on, I just don’t have the time this year as it’s my busiest time at work!

I’d be happy to help out JellyBear if wanted if there is lots of interest & going by past ScSa thread there well could be, we could maybe split the tasks involved.
