I have to replace the belts on a 165 rotary mower. there is no serial no. on the old belts. mower is a Pelhrimov from czechoslovakia ztr 165.
Does anyone out there know what size belt I should be fitting?
A local supplier gave me 2 belts to try. one was about 20mm shorter (x set Spa 2982) than the old belt and the other was 70mm shorter (xset Spa 2932)

Also how do you slacken the tension on the belts in order to remove them and fit the new belts?
Any help would be appreciated? Thanks.

You loosen the vertical spring above the crankwheel to loosen or tighten the belts. These belts should be easy to source, any good tractor parts store will have them or could get them.
The Older belts would be longer than the new ones as they get stretched a bit over time and with use

Thanks for that. Do you think the old belts would have stretched 2 inches or should I go with the replacement which is about 3/4 of inch shorter?

Hi sorry for jumping in, the bearings went on my disk mower, she is hardly worth fixing. I only cut a few acres for hay maybe a bit gone strong in front of cows. Can't justify buying a new disk, but you can pick up a new drum mower for 2500. Are you happy with it

This in an old drum mower I bought for 1,000 last year for topping 20 acres rushes, furze etc. I only used it for the past 2 summers but found it good. It a touch on the heavy side for my mf135 but it still works fine for the job I'm doin.

Just checked belts on my ZTR 165 there as I had the cover off cleaning it at end of season.
The correct belts are SPA 2982
