eBay problems with PayPal

I'm waiting on replacement for a lost debit card from the bank.

I have linked and confirmed my current account on Paypal to order a few things from eBay today.

However, in the eBay checkout when the PayPal pop up appears it asks me to enter card details and doesn't give me the option to use the bank account.

I called PayPal and they are saying none of the sellers probably accept a bank payment but one of the seller's has already responded and said they have no issue with that. The Paypal support agents definitely had a problem understanding my accent so I'm not sure they actually what I was talking about.

I have considered going the route of requesting invoices but only one of the orders is eligible for that.

Ga anyone ever heard of sellers on eBay only accepting Paypal payments by card? That doesn't make sense t me.

Does anyone know how it takes to transfer money from a bank account to Paypal?

EDIT: I was on live chat with eBay and the agent at first agreed with Paypal that the bank transactions were not acceptable and kept trying to get me to use a credit card instead and it wasn't until I said "thanks anyway and goodbye" that she told me her bank accounts being unacceptable weren't the problem but that there is an ongoing issue with many customers not being able to use Paypal because they keep getting asked to enter new card details.

Is anyone else here having that problem?

I was trying to buy on Paypal for the fist time in ages last week. Went to pay, and said "Seller couldn't accept payments at this time". Contacted the seller and he told me that eBay are dropping Paypal, and going directly with credit cards. I didn't like the sound of it, so left it, despite them having loads of sales and 99.8%. Unless there is something similar going on with your transaction?

I hadn't heard anything before about eBay dropping Paypal but I just looked it up and the various articles mentioning it seems to be spread ut over a number of years.

If this happening then then surely the eBay agent would have been more straightforward. She was not advising me to add my credit card to eBay - she was telling to try to use it on Paypal.

EDIT: Although she did wobble back and forth on somethings she was telling so maybe she was just unreliable.

A eBay support agent just told me that Paypal s being dropped eventually but there should be no issues with using it and sellers shouldn't be using it as an excuse.
