Just brushing dog and saw fleas. Thought had stronghold but could only find an expired one at back of press. It expired almost a year ago- anyone use expired on their pets. Is it safe? Can't get to vets until tomorrow evening and don't want to wait that long

It wont do any harm, it just wont be as effective when its out of date. It may not work at all. But if you’re going to get fresh stuff from vet tomorrow I’d hold off rather than potentially double-dosing the dog.

Will proper stuff today. Haven't seen any actual fleas on her, just the black droppings so telling myself they're all dead or gone elsewhere. Speaking of which, even if have fleas in house, will they die off over the next month if gets cold ( house is always freezing anyway)

I wouldn’t bank on it! At the very least give the bedding a wash at 90 and get a flea spray for couches/fabrics that cant be washed.

And hoover hoover hoover, especially carpets and mats. Then don't forget to empty the bag/cylinder out.

Actually having the heating on will mean an increase, not the other way around. Those pupae are only waiting for the right environmental conditions!

How long does it take eggs to hatch(or whatever the terminology is).

Treated her 2 weeks ago with stronghold. She still has little patches of flea poo every time I check her fur and gets a scratching frenzy for 5 seconds every few days-no sign of an actual flea though. Is this from fleas that hatch and have just enough time to do a poo before being killed by the stronghold ? Or did the stronghold not work?

Another good tip is to use the steam cleaner (if you have one) absolutely everywhere, especially in nooks, crannies, the cracks between the floorboards, the carpet, etc. Also, I'd give the vacuum cleaner a go with some insecticide (either suction the air when you're spraying it, or spray it directly into the hose and the dustbag or the cylinder.
