I started the car last week (1.4L 2010 Opel Astra) and I got a symbol that means service airbag but it went away when I started the car again a few minutes later. Ill be servicing the car at the end of the month but until then, im kind of worried that the air bag might pop open or explode as im driving up the motorway.

A google of the issue revealed that some people say its an electronic fault others say you are in danger and get it checked asap. Im not planning any major or fast journeys until the car is serviced.

TLDR: Cant service the car until end of month, is a once-off flash of the airbag symbol something to worry about?

I wouldn't worry about it exploding anyways .

I would be more worried about it not exploding when it's needed though. Even at low speeds 2 vehicles colliding generates a lot of force and you can't control the speed or mass of the other vehicle in a collision.
