I would consider myself slightly to the right of center... I don't believe in the gender or trans nonsense... but the left seem to want to normalise this behavior. Those people should get psychiatric help.

I don't think trans people are just mentally ill - they go through very intense psychiatric assessments first in order to ensure that that isn't the case. But I don't think people who find it difficult to understand what being trans is, or difficult to get their heads around it, deserve to be labelled bigots. So long as they are respectful, these are simply their opinions.

I think you need to get up to speed. Doctors assessments are now "gatekeeping" and transphobic. It is now all on the person's say so. Probably explains how situations like the women sexually assaulted in prison by a male sex offender recently in the UK happened. I'm a bigot apparently for thinking that shouldn't really have been allowed to happen.

Not right wing here either. I'd consider myself centre and maybe even slightly to the left. Used to be way more to the left when I was younger

They quite often do, and it rarely helps.

All I know is that if someone identifies strongly enough with the opposite gender and it harms nobody - what does it matter?

I don't have a lot of experience with transgender people, but I did meet a guy who was transitioning to female online that I used to game with online. Really nice person and she explained transgenderism to me from her perspective. Said basically she had felt she was female for the majority of her life and transitioning was the only thing that truly allowed her to be herself and be happy.

Happiness is all that matters.

All these arguments against transgender people were made against gay people. Gay people were told they were mentally ill, that they should seek psychiatric help. But it never helps. You can't change how you feel when it's that deep in your psyche.

I honestly don't understand the backlash against transgender people. They don't deserve it and all they want to be is happy.

Would you clarify what exactly you mean here?
Transgender? Gender fluidity? Transexuality? Transvestism?
