Just wondering, as part of the driving test for the full licence, does the tester check the tyres of the car?

If they deem one of the tyres to be in need of a change will they fail me?

If the car is not road worthy (any tyre having below 1.6mm thread depth) then they can absolutely refuse to conduct the test. 1.6mm is a very low thread depth anyway, if your car's tyres are approaching that level just get them changed.

If the tyres are below the legal limit and he spots it, he won't get into the car with you.

They could well measure the tread depth if it's looking bald, and refuse the test if it's below 1.6mm, as the car would not be legal to drive. Really, though, even 1.6mm is well below an actual safe tread depth; if your tire is even borderline, it really needed replacing months ago.

Mine were checked when i went and did my test.

if they are unsafe, they will refuse to do the test. They can also stop you leaving the test centre if they are that bad.

Simple, replace tyres when they are beyond dangerous.

Should be changed before this, if you're doing your test then you definitely should know this.

Not a great start thinking it would be fine to drive a defective vehicle.
