Irish Water have had to extend the timeline for Public submissions against this plant due to omitting documents required for the EIA . Closing date for submissions is now 5pm 18th October 2018

There are just 15 days left to make a submission

HOW TO MAKE A SUBMISSION http://www.greaterdublindrainage.com/consultation/

CAN YOU TRUST IRISH WATER TO RUN A PLANT OF THIS SIZE ?

According to the EPA's 2016 Urban Waste Water Treatment report Irish Water had 180 large Urban areas to manage and report under Irish and EU Regulations . Of these 180 50 sites were non compliant with Irish and EU Effluent emission standards.

Those 50 sites represent 66% of the total waste water that Irish Water treat . Thats a worrying fact !

    https://www.epa.ie/pubs/reports/water/wastewater/Urban%20waste%20water%20report%20for%202016%20Final%20Version.pdf

The Outflow pipe will discharge just 1km of Irelands eye . If Raw Sewage end up washing back into areas such as Portmarnock , The Blue flag status of Portmarnocks Velvet Strand will be lost for 4 years

Please make a submission against this Monster Sewage Plant !

I question why we even need a plant of this size . Ringsend is been retrofited with Dutch Nereda technololgy( Which uses a quarter of the space of traditional systems ) . Nereda state on their website that Ringsend will be able to cope with 2.67 people when upgraded .

Population of the Greater Dublin area is 1.9 million expected to rise to 2.2 million by 2030 . That leave a surplus capacity in ringsendof .47 million by 2030 .

We may need smaller localised plants in certain built up areas but not an ill thought out plant beside the airport greeting 30 million visitors , in a heavily populated area of Clonshaugh and risking ruining the only Beach on the East coast which maintains the BLUE and GREEN Flags in a coastal area of great beauty and unspoilt SAC,s etc. The planning has no regard and is in breach of several several Habitat directives . Baldoyle estuary is even listed as a RAMSAR site !
