Nope, you don't have to host it. You can attach it to your post. Click "post reply" then click "manage attachments", browse to the file on your PC and attach it. That displays the link to it. See the attachment below.
And if you want to actually display the pic itself, open your attachment in a new tab or windows, copy the link and wrap it in image tags like this:
