If the minimum wage were to increase again would employees that are above it have justification to ask for their hourly or salaries to rise in line with it?

I wouldn't think so because a minimum wage increase is meant to only benefit those on the minimum just because they are getting a wage increase doesn't mean that every other employee deserves a wage increase too.

    not inherently

the argument that wages in general are rising, perhaps

the argument that your role is valued higher within whatever sector and you can prove it (and might be willing to do something about it) better again

That would mean that every paye employee in the country would get a raise if min wage went up?
Nice try but that won't roll lol

Used to happen in any small family run business I was in such as bars, hotels etc. Wages were increased across the board, but most were on minimum wage anyway, but the few who were above it, had a matching increase.

Well the minimum wage just means it's literally the minimum you can pay someone (although there are exceptions).

It's something the government are enforcing.

Whereas if you're earning something above the minimum wage, that's between you and the employer, so there's no legal reason for them to increase your wage.

Something to keep in mind is a lot of companies live month to month, even if it may appear otherwise, so raising the minimum wage will put them under more pressure, and make them less likely to give everyone else a raise!
