As the title says, where do you think the best "CARVERY" is in Kilkenny or close by for Sunday dinner.

The 3 I think of is Newpark Hotel, Springhill Hotel and Langtons at Cillian Hill.

    Anywhere else?

Arboretum is pretty good too, and the Lord Bagnell.
And I've heard people saying The Orchard is good.

Forgot about those two. Haven't eaten in the Lord Bagenal in a long time. Was always good grub.

Don't think the Orchard is carry though

Spring Hill is good, can’t beat a car very in the middle of the day.

Springhill very good. Arboretum I wasn't impressed with.

Matty's at Royal Oak at the junction for Bagenalstown does good grub. Now the decor is very dated, but the food and service can't be faulted. The veg, which are usually cooked from frozen in other places, are all fresh, and the meat from the local butcher. Second helpings of veg, too. Worth a look. PS not connected with the business.

Never been. I will definitely give it a try. Decor wouldn't bother me

Agree about Arboretum, same menu week in week out. Same frozen veg, very salty gravy. Anytime I went there I felt almost hustled out of the restaurant once I'd finished eating. Not relaxed, but maybe just my impression.

Have a look at the Facebook page for the menus.

The Arboretum menu is yawn inducing. Used go there regularly but got so sick of the same menu over and over- Roast beef or turkey/ham, beef stew, haddock, weird tomato chicken thigh thing...repeat over and over and over again.
The food is actually decent enough but they need a new chef and/or new ideas. Carvery isn’t Michelin Star dining and that’s fine but a spark of originality and variety is needed.
Rathwood in Tullow is far better, tastier food.

Be adventures when you go for something to eat the carvery is a little boring you could have it anytime.

I do eat out and try loads of places but sometimes you just want a carvery. Simple and quick. Easier too with the kids as you have the food straight away rather than waiting and them getting bored

Sometimes that's all you want in a busy day.

Sunday carvery that's what this started about, well for you that you can have a carvery on a busy day your hours must be good.

Had beef casserole in the Arboretum today . With the queue I felt like going back to get it reheated.
    Was nice though.

Duiske inn Graiguenamanagh is A1 for Sunday carvery, never disappoints

You'd need to be there before 1 o'clock. It gets mad after that.
