Is it worth getting a chip for the 520d BMW (2018 - G31)? Where and how is best to do it, buy the chip and bring it to the dealership for installation ? Will it void the warranty? Will it affect insurance? Anything else worth mentioning?

I have an A4 120hp . A racechip chip was recommended to me.
Its meant to bring the car up to 145/150hp.
It has transformed the car. Way nicer to drive . It also gives 6mpg more so a good bit more economical. 70k miles done with it now and no problems. 250 to buy and self fit.
You should tell your insurance company about them . A lot dont mind tbh.
Warranty wise i would assume it would void it

It will void the warranty if it's aftermarket and attributed to the problem that your looking to be repaired/replaced through warranty. BMW dealers offer a M Performance upgrade for about 1.5k to 2k I think, this includes a new ECU (remapped), bigger intercooler, etc which are all BMW approved so won't void the warranty. This would probably be the wisest choice given the car is a 2018 with the bones of 3 years remaining on the warranty.

Insurance is a hot topic around modifications, you are obliged to tell them of any modifications but most don't because it tends to give them a free rein to charge what they like.
