Over in Germany a despicable populist autocrat has just finished a propaganda tour by officially opening a building dedicated to a supremist ideology.

Why? Is it immature to think that it is not acceptable for a third world dictator to hold sway over a sizeable minority in the most powerful nation in the EU.
Erdogan is riding roughshod over secular democracy and the rightful self determination of the Kurdish people. It is totally wrong that Merkel has to curry favour with such criminals to maintain power in her own country

its a new york times article there was a lot of criticism of erdogan (sp?) but none of Merkel.

and no mention of Merkel betraying anyone she was present at a joint press conference where Erdogan insisted that Germany extradite some people that had fled to germany after the coup she basically ruled it out and mentioned releasing geman citizens in jail in Turkey. absent from the State banquet as the German president was the host.

To be honest I don't know where the OP got 'Merkel's betrayal' bs from.

Merkel, according to your article, was critical of him but defended the visit on the grounds that we need to talk to Turkish government to try and repair relations.

Turkey is a NATO member and has the largest standing army at this side of the atlantic in NATO they are a key Ally of Israel and important to stability in the region.
the Kurd situation has existed for years before Erdogan ever came to power they are no innocents either they sided with Assad in Syria for greater autonomy for the kurdish portion of syria Its a complicated situation.
