    Hiya folks,

Someone might be able to give some advice.

Our second car finally gave up the ghost this week - not exactly flush with cash at the moment (just bought a house), but an uncle of mine has a 2007 Audi A6 S Line - 120k miles, he said he'd get rid of it for 2k.

Don't know a huge amount about cars, but just wondering if that's a good deal? Generally what would that era of A6 be like? I know Audi in general would be fairly ok.

    Thanks!

It sounds like you can't go wrong at that price, unless he knows something he's not telling you!

Cheers! He's a sound man, not massively into cars but certainly wouldn't blackguard me!

If its a diesel the oil pump give issues but if it has lasted this long it should be decent enough.

Most A6 are used for long commutes so you will find them with200-300k miles with no major issues....service via Audi is expensive so find a good local VW/Audi person and keep it regular serviced and it will be perfect

Seems to me like he is helping you out. They are a good reliable car and with such low mileage will last you for a good few years to come

You need to play the man not the ball i.e is your uncle a person who looks after cars ? Does he keep on top of maintenance and possess a bit of mechanical sympathy - if so then go for it. If not then walk away. You say you're not flush you could be flushing 2k down the drain with a poorly looked after 2.0TDI A6 of that vintage.

Hi all, thanks a lot for all the advice! Sounds like, in general, this version of the Audi A6 has a good reputation; as I said in my OP, just looking to get a couple of years out of it as out second car, one that will still be used 4/5 times a week for commute. I know the car was bout from new, and although he was no expert on cars, he certainly would have looked after the car.
