I'm mainly referring to the Bill Kenneally case in Waterford. He was a basketball couch, an accountant, did a lot with Fianna Fail. He was convicted of abusing at least ten boys in the 1980's a few years ago.
Some of the people who spoke out after being abused by him have being trying to trying to find out was this abuse covered up in the 1980 by political people, the church, Gardai, HSE,etc.
I don't know the full story here but it must be strange knowing that you let this continue and did noting about it. Then again I'm from a different generation but was it really seen as acceptable back then to cover up for somebody like this?
This wasn't something small that happened or maybe people believed that it was an isolated incident. However it was meant to be well known at the time that the guy was a dodgy as ever.
One of the victims spoke up in 2012 when he realised that this guy was still involved in underage basketball. So with the progression of time and what we learnt in the late 1990's/early 2000's nobody appeared to stop this guy if they did know.
You'd really have to question these people moral's.

This is the latest thing I've seen on the case.

This would explain the detail of what they believe the cover up to be.

    It’s Ireland.

Covering up child abuse, bribing government ministers, you’re fine.

Not just Ireland. Larry nassar, Jerry Sandusky, Jimmy savile, child abusing priests..the list goes on. Wherever someone with power uses their position to abuse, and other people have vested interests in that person or structure, it will be covered up. It's sickening and doesnt seem likely to ever change :(

Given the extensiveness of such coverups, it would seem likely that everyone has it in them to cover up. Everyone, in those circumstances would avoid taking action, turn the blind eye, and choose not to report what they know.

Is what makes it sickening, the disturbing realisation that everyone is complicit in this crime of facilitating continued abuse ?
