Replacing Sky Q LNB with Sky Quad Universal LNB

This may have been answered but I didn’t find it in searches.

I have a 12 year old Sky installation long since connected to Freesat but the signal has failed and I am presuming the LNB is at fault. The dish is inaccessible and the new LNB seems to have a different mount arrangement.

I also have a now defunct (installed 18 months ago) sky Q dish and LNB install (much more accessible) which appears to have the same mount as my new Universal LNB.

Based in South Dublin, if I did a straight swap of LNB (Remove Sky Q, replace with Sky Quad Universal) on the smaller dish would the existing (installed for Sky Q) cabling be adequate and is the dish large enough to get a decent signal to my freesat box?

    Thanks in anticipation

    Peter

The old Sky dish is likely a Mk. 2 or 3 and the newer dish a Mk.4.

Just a straight swap for the SkyQ LNB, regarding dish size if it worked for SkyQ it'll work for Freesat

    Thanks Cush

I’ll go ahead and do the swap. Knowing it should work also means that if it doesn’t I can suspect my Freesat box of being faulty.

Fault could also be with cabling or connectors.

    Ok Thanks

Because I am switching dish I am hoping to have eliminated all faults as far as the box

The cables I will connect to were last used for Sky Q connection which was working when I ended the contract so I am hoping as they are much more recent they will be OK.

However I will bear all that in mind before looking to replace the freesat box
