i suppose the question is do you want it done cheap or do you want it done right?
Any accountants / tax consultants who are members of a professional body will be paying for membership, insurance, continuing education, office costs (whether at home or in D4 stuff like computers, programs, books/resources cost before you even open the door) and are probably still paying for the loans etc. in getting there. So like any job, you get what you pay for.

My suggestion would be to seek recommendations from those you know who may have cause to use these services. Failing that look up the various institutes Chartered, certified, cpa, institute of taxation etc. websites. They usually have member search functions. Ring or email those in your area, outline what you want doing and get quotes. Then decide if any of those meet your budget and expectations and go from there.

One more thing, pay and file deadline is 31October if you’re a self-assessed taxpayer. You may not get much response now from those in the business as they will be up the walls dealing with the busiest time of the year so you may have to shout.

What are we looking at here: General Motors or just PAYE.
If just PAYE, then it's simple enough.
Are you registered with ROS/MYaccount with revenue?

Set out the requirements and lets see.

If you have a simple sole trader business, I would do it myself.

It depends on what types of incomes / trades you have.

Form 12 is simple to do online.

Form 11 is a bit trickier, yes.

But I have done Form 11s online, bit tedious, but doable.

Are you declaring additional income or claiming tax relief on something?

OP, I & others are REALLY trying to help you here: I can't work wth "just general returns" if I am trying to help you here.
    Is it
    1. PAYE
    2. SW income/benefits
    3. Property Rent
    4. Investment income
    5. Claiming Health expenses
    6. self employed income
    7. foreign property/bank accounts.
    8. Undeclared/un resolved issues with Revenue

    etc

You are on boards so thats online :D
