Hi just wondering how long it normally takes if one makes a complaint about a pm received to receive a reply to that complaint? Tia

Admins generally take action on reported PMs within a matter of hours. However, we do not respond to individual reports unless further information is required. We also do not provide updates on any action that may have taken place unless there is a very specific need to do so.

As THB said, we don’t generally reply to Reported private messages, just like we don’t reply to Reported posts. We assess each reported PM, which is visible to all Admins and HQ members, and we decide on a course of action.

We may occasionally contact the reporting user, or the reported user, but that depends on the individual circumstances.

    Cheers for that

Is there no repercussions for those that send dodgy pm’s then?

Depends on the content of the PM. If it is a clear breach of site rules, such as being abusive, then yes. The standard response is to ban for a month.

Sometimes we will contact the users and tell them to put each other on ignore or to cease engaging with each other. Or we might contact for some more context. Then we take an action as we deem appropriate.

But to be honest, we do get a lot of Reported PMs which aren't actionable. Sometimes it’s as simple as the fact that the recipient doesn’t like what the sender sent.

    We take each case individually

Im still wondering though, How does the person reporting the abusive PM see/know if their report has been acted on/taken serious?

There is no automatic feedback to the reporter. Just like the Reported Posts process.

Just to be clear. All Reported PMs are reviewed & taken seriously. This doesn’t mean that action will be warranted.

Cheers, so one never knows of action on the perpetrator was taken.

    We don’t tell you directly.

Sometimes you might be able to infer the action, e.g. you report a PM and later you see that the sender is banned. Other times the action might not be visible, or there may have been a decision to take no action.
