Headlight lens cracked

A sliotar has hit the headlight in my car and has put a lot of small cracks in the corner of the headlight lens. The rest of the lens then is fine. The headlight is xenon light if that makes any difference.

Is it possible to just replace the lens or does a whole new headlight have to be bought. The car in question is a b9 a4.

Any recommendations where to go in cork?

Xenon makes a difference in that it's going to cost you a lot of €'s to fix it.

As long as it doesn't let in water (condensation) and doesn't interrupt the focusing of the beam, it should pass the NCT. Put a Clio through with a nice, Christmassy crackle job going on the driver's side no problem, though that's not to say the Tester didn't cop it :o

If it's bothering you personally however, you'll be looking at replacement, and it'll be a full lamp. Might be spendy, even if you try the "Somora" option.. Probably try yer luck with the scrappers, though "luck" would be the operative term.

If your ok with how it looks what about putting clear heat shrink film over it to prevent further cracks or water.

Other than that it's an entire replacement for the headlamp casing. You could swap Ken's but youd still need the whole unit to remove a lens from so pointless

    Would that work?

I hope so, I bought some similar for my E46. On the E46 the lens just clips off and can be removed from what I've seen. It may be the same with your A4.

Xenon lights get really hot so if air is getting through the crack then moisture is going to form inside the lense causing it to fog up. It might be better to try and source a replacement headlight from a scrap yard if that becomes apparent.

First off I'd price new headlamp from main dealer then at least you will know the exact price and also that it's the correct part ..if mad money then price the motor factors as previous posters already said .. hopefully your existing opposite lamp isn't faded otherwise a new one will make opposite old lamp stick out as being faded..lens wise..
Sometimes main dealer price may not be much more than motor factor..either way a replacement is only option. Diy repairs will look crap and still need replacing sometime down the road

There used to be a guy on Donedeal offering this exact service - Replacing headlight lenses for cracked headlights! ... His example photo used to be that off an A4 Xenon headlight.

Trying to find it for you now but not having any luck unfortunately :(

Still searching done deal for you but no joy :(

Anyway, might be worth giving these guys a shout..

You could try using one of those resin kits for windscreens, they operate a vacuum and pull the resin into the crack.

You would want to be sitting down and have a strong sense of humor when you get a price of a brand new xenon headlamp from a main dealer especially a premium brand like Audi. I cannot imagine even a spurious headlamp you could find being anyway reasonable from a motor factor either.

Almost 1200 for a new one from Audi anyway. Will have to keep digging

Lens is part of the light OP:

I have two lights below, which one looks more like yours? Should be the first one:

    462314.PNG

    462314.PNG

Almost certain that's your light OP, is your car a 2016 A4 yes? If not and you got the part number send it over and I'll update the diagram.

Pricing on the first light is 550ish excluding vat from dealer, for the second, well from the dealer its 2100+ excluding vat
