Unicable? Just one cable?

    Hi,
Very uninformed question here... hope thats ok.

I've an old rusty dish and the orginal LNB.
Would like to get set up for recording off Satellite..
From what I understand that would normally require a dual LNB and two cables coming through the wall ...
I've already got a single cable drilled though the wall and would prefer not to have to make another hole in the wall if possible...
Would a unicable LNB connected to the single cable allow me to connect up a triple tuner box ?

Or is it more complicated than that?

    Thanks

The satellite receiver must be capable of using a Unicable LNB otherwise it won't work out for you.

The more modern receivers are capable, some even having multiple tuners (fed from the one cable) and are additionally capable of supporting multiroom from the main receiver.

So.. I would get away with the existing single cable if I had a compatible box yeah?

Which ones would support multiroom like that?

    Thanks

A twin WF65 cable will fit through the same size hole as a single WF100 cable.

    Yes.

I could not answer specifically as I do not use a tuner box at my tv.

    I use one of these
Telestar DIGIBIT R 1 HD SAT Reciever
which has four tuners in it all fed by one cable from a Unicable LNB.

The Tiviar, discussed in another thread, might do what you require. Lots of reading involved. ;)

    Thanks JohnBoy,
I do intend to keep reading..
Just wondering tho.. that Telestar has 4 inputs on the back ( googled it) .. but you've only a single cable from the Unicable LNB...
Do you use some sort of splitter or what?
    Thanks

PS: if there is some particular reading you think I should look at then please do point me at it.
There's a lot shows up in google.. it gets kinda boggling... so a push in the right direction would be appreciated..

The Telestar has software control to switch between different types of LNB, so you can use either.

There are some posts in the HTPC section that might enlighten you a little more, or at least provide some hints what to look for to read.
This is one thread I posted about using a €40 Amlogic Android box as the server
    https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057826211

It is still in use here and working well.
