Wishbone bushes

    Hi,

I have noticed some play in the rear wishbone bushes on the drivers side. Do you guys normally change both sides?. I don't have a press to put in the new bushes so I was going to pick up a Lemforder/Delphi wishbone for between 70 - 90 euro and put this in. The car is 10 years old so I was thinking to change the wishbone on both sides but is this overkill. There is a little bit of play on the passenger side.

    What car is it?

    I wouldn’t fit a Delphi wishbone. It won’t last.

    Lemforder should be ok.

Its a Mazda 3 2008. I was going to go with Lemforder for around 90 euro There is a bit of play when I test at 3 and 9 clock positions on the passenger side but the drivers side has a nice bit - looks like the rear bushon.

It is fine on level ground but any rough ground I get some knocking. Originals are around 300 euro each from Mazda so Lemforder are a good bit cheaper.

I can get Moog, Monroe, TRW , HERTH+BUSS as well if any of these would be better

Bushes for one should be ok to replace but if you plan to keep the car a few years more then you might want to swap for both when you're at it, and not having to worry about the second one in a year or two

This is the thing - I will be selling it in a few months but my wife's brother is going to buy it so don't want to give it to him needing a repair. I will push it through the NCT as well before I sell it to him. It's been a solid car for me for 10 years even with all the bad press about the 1.6 diesel engine- two back shocks, glow plugs and some drop links in the 10 years I have owned it.

I suppose Lemforder is the best out of these? -Moog, Monroe, TRW , HERTH+BUSS, lemforder

If you sell to family then change them all I'd say.

Have the weight of the car on them when tightening to stop the rubber from splitting.

It just appears that the rear one is fecked.

Is it straight forward to change the rear bushon or do I need a press to do the rear. The other bushons on the wishbone look fine.
