Driving home tonight on motorway doing about 80mph and start to hear a kind of whooshing sound, thought one of windows was a bit down but sound got a bit louder and then got warning engine malfunction
Car lost power think it went into limp mode, very slow taking off but still able to get up to 60/70 mph and felt ok to drive.
BTW car is 2.0 mondeo 2010 and was just serviced on Friday

More than likely a boost pipe has popped off or split.

That’s what I’m hoping, did a quick google and seems the turbos are pretty reliable on the mondeo

What colour smoke is coming out the exhaust?

Check the main intake pipe and make sure it is still attached to the MAF housing on top of the air box. Have seen them left loose after servicing before.

Was checking my mirrors when driving and expected to see a trail of smoke but couldn’t see any, it was late when I got home and it will be going back to mechanic in morning so never checked

Thanks George but don’t know what any of those things are so will just give it back to mechanic in morning, I’d probably just make things worse
