Whirlpool Fridge Freezer - Freezer not ice cold

    Hi All,
I have a Whirlpool Arc 4208 IX american style fridge freezer which i have with about 12 years.During the summer the ice cream in the freezer was getting soft which obviously means the freezer wasnt cold enough even though the temperature was reading -18.

So i plugged it out for 24 hours, hoping it would fix the issue and it did but only for a few hours.
It then over the next few weeks froze yogurt,it softened again, refroze etc.

In the meantime the fridge section is working perfectly at +3.

Over the last few weeks ice has been forming in the freezer, which is probably due from melting and freezing again.

I am wondering is it a simple part replacement or is the freezer reach end of its life.

    Any thoughts welcome.

you may have two issues going on there, at its age the condenser may be clogged up with dust etc which would cause it to overrun and not reach a correct temp in hot weather. pull it out from the wall and remove the bottom panel at the back, the condenser is like a small radiator if clogged up clean it. with the ice build up it may need a manual defrost which could take up to a few days to defrost depending on the build up. unplug it when you are working on it and while defrosting.
