    Hi folks,
Long story short. My iphone got robbed. I have an old iphone that I want to set up. But it keeps sending the code to a number ending with -- which I don't recognise. Is there any way of getting around this? Apple were useless when I phoned them. Surely there must be another way of verifying your id? Any help greatly appreciated.
    TIA

You have to know the phone number or they wont help you, I would say your permanently locked out TBH.

You can change your number which your two factor code is sent too. If you are unable to do that you can put your account in recovery mode and you will get a call or a text from Apple when it has come out of this mode and you will be able to change your password .

    Have a read of this

Friend forgot his icloud password and the recovery message was sent to a number he initially didn't recognise. Turns out it was a number for a guy in his college course who was over in Oz and number was no longer active. He had to fill out some form online and confirm Debit card linked to account and he had to wait 2 weeks before they changed the number linked to the account.

    Hi folks,
Thanks for the replies so far. Just a quick update to let you know that I managed to recover that phone number. I phoned Apple again this morning and was put through to a very helpful supervisor. The account is in recovery mode now and I have to wait 24 hours for them to get back to me. This is crazy but it seems that the process cannot be speeded up.
Anyone else have experience of this? I've provided new phone number and credit card details.
    TIA

Expect to be waiting any where from a few days to a few weeks for account recovery. Once the process is started its a waiting game I'm afraid

    Hi all,

Quick update to let you know that I am back up and running finally. Even better news than recovering the random phone number is that I also succeeded in getting my phone back as well. Happy days.

Thanks for all of your help.
