Hi again everyone. Bought a fashion watch in watch station last year. It's losing time and stopping. Brought it to a jeweller to change battery and same thing.
Called the shop and they said warranty now void because they didnt change battery. Is this the case?
They said jeweller could've broken it. I wasnt going to drive an hour back to the shop just for what I thought was a battery change.
Anyway still having same issue despite new battery. Do I have a leg to stand on?

Mods just thinking this may be better suited to consumer issues?

I would say the warranty is invalid once you had the watch opened elsewhere Would have been best to say nothing about the battery change

Would they be able to tell?

Unless the battery is the cause of the problem, the store cannot refuse to repair under the sale of goods act.

The warranty is worth the paper it is printed on. Your statutory rights as a consumer are far better.

Thanks Ceilingfly. I'm debating whether to go in and not mention battery change or say it and ask for a repair anyway.
